Sunbird Kuchawe
This is our last day in Mawali. For the last three days we have been working in Dumasi and we have stayed at the Sunbird Hotel Kuhcawe. The hotel is located on a mountain plateau...very high. A magnificent view of Zomba. Internet connection has been very unstable for the past four days thus, I have not been able to load pictures. I do have many pictures to share. Malawi is indeed the warm heart of African and one must experience it to truly understand. Today, we return to Dumasi College of Education to conclude our work with teachers there. I have learned so much from them about teaching in Malawi and the challenges and opportunities that are somewhat similiar to US.

The Sunbird Capitol
Had a safe journey to Lilongwe, the capitol city of Malawi. At the moment, I'm just trying to get ahead of the jetlag. I have some pictures and will post later tonight...that is if I'm awake.

CIVITAS Malawi
I have been involved with CIVITAS for the past eight years. Its goals are to promote and enhance understanding of civic education in the United States and around the world. To learn more about CIVITAS International point your browser to this URL. http://www.civnet.org/institucional.htm
Our delegation includes civic education scholars, teachers and stakeholders from Alabama, Indiana, India, Senegal, USAID, US Department of Education, Department of State and the World Bank. For the US delegation our journey to Malawi begins Tuesday evening, May 25th. We depart from Atlanta with an overnight stay in Johannesburg, South Africa. We arrive in Lilongwe the afternoon of May 27th. I would like to pay homage, however briefly, to the important people who have played vital roles in my involvement with CIVITAS. I have the good fortune to collaborate with individuals who are committed to leveling the playing field for democracy in our nation and the world community. They are both generous and visionary in their leadership of the program.
As time permits, feel free to blog with me!
